I’ve spent much of my life being outwardly conventional but always believing that there must be something more. Deep down my inner drive was to pursue the unconventional but this always seemed to be at odds with the world around me.
Eventually, though, your true nature can be suppressed no longer and in May 2019, aged 55, I left my role as a Business Advisor to branch out on my own.
Seed to Source is the story of that journey.
Do not try to save the whole world
or do anything grandiose.
Instead, create a clearing in the dense forest of your life
and wait there patiently,
until the song that is your life
falls into your own cupped hands
and you recognize and greet it.
Only then will you know how to give yourself
to this world
so worthy of rescue
I’m one of those people described in Barbara Sher’s book Refuse to Choose. I’m a scanner, a multipassionate, not easily pigeon holed. I’m interested in so many different and often diametrically opposed pursuits. I’m unconventional, quirky and live outside the circle (some might call this eccentric).
I fascinate by being the Provocateur (see above).
I’m on a quest to understand more about what makes me tick and to use this knowledge to live purposefully and aligned with who I truly am. I want to share this with others to enable them to find greater fulfilment.
don’t water it down;
don’t try to make it logical;
don’t edit your own soul according to fashion.
Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.
One weekend in April 2019, I learned that a lovely lady called Joy had died. I’d only met her once yet she left a lasting impression. I’d already been dreaming of a different life, one where I had time to cultivate my beloved Auriculas, spend time growing my husband’s business, or wander the back streets of Manchester taking photographs of grunge and street art. These were things I would do later. Perhaps when I retired, maybe on a day off.
That weekend it hit home. This was later. It really was, if not now, then when?
The next day I resigned from the job I’d been doing for the past 4.5 years and started planning a new future.
While that future is still in development, this is what I know.
Seed to Source is all about slowing down and making time for what I love to do. It’s about making a life and a living in my own inimitable fashion and, I hope, sharing my journey and what I learn along the way so that you, too, can do the same.
It’s about returning to a point of alignment so that my life and work is truly a reflection of who I am and what I value. That’s the source. It applies equally to our business, our life and our spirit.
It’s also about seeding a new future that enables us to return to a state of balance and the source or essence of who we are.
I look, always, for the essence. It’s there just waiting to be acknowledged.
Essence is who we are when we’re most in tune with ourselves, our strengths, our sense of purpose, and what makes us fulfilled. All too often we spend our lives out of alignment and wonder why life feels out of kilter.
If this speaks to you, I hope you’ll join me for the ride.
Dip into your own soul. Find your own truth.
What calls to your heart? What moves your spirit?
Make your life dance to the song of your own essence.
My husband is a completely blind Woodturner.
